Whitehaven Sea CadetsSorry to bring you the sad news that one of our previous Commanding Officers, Lt. Cdr. James Ryan has passed away on the 23 December. Jim was one of the longest serving COs in the Sea Cadet Corps and a dedicated servant to the Unit. Not all of you will remember Jim but those that do will have fond memories of him. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time. Rest in Peace sir.See allWhitehaven Sea CadetsIt may not be worth quite as much as an engraved £5 note but our first "proud to support Whitehaven Sea Cadets" polo shirt will be entering circulation on Christmas day! Always great to hear from former cadetstoWhitehaven Sea CadetsMy uncle (John McCrickett), our close neighbour (Billy Gribbin) and another friend (Raymond Devlin) were members of Whitehaven Sea Cadets shortly after it was f...ounded in WW2. At that time it was led by Mr Percy Siberston. All three still usually attend the Remembrance Sunday service at Whitehaven Cenotaph if they can and all three attended one in November 2016. In fact, in recent years Raymond Devlin has been asked to say the epitaph for the fallen during the service. Oddly enough, although they all went on to serve in the Armed Forces none of these three went into the Royal Navy (see a previous article I wrote a few years ago)!
