“TwitchCon will be an opportunity for the entire community—broadcasters, game developers, viewers, and us—to play and learn together.”The event is labelled as a “celebration of all things Twitch” and will be co-produced by ReedPOP, which produces events like PAX and Comic Con.The company has been hinting at an event for years. Why selling t-shirts through Twitch isn't worth it.question (self.Twitch)submitted by http://twitch.tv/thatdanishguySo twitch partners with 50+ subs can sell t-shirts through Teespring via Twitch merch store I did a bit of research and came to the conclusion that it's not worth it to go through Twitch Teespring takes a 4$ royalty (half for the first 72 hours on a personal campaign), Twitch takes a 2,50$ royalty. This is per shirt sold. A Twitch campaign with a cost of 14$ per shirt will net you 1,78$ per shirt sold (With a goal of 50 shirts). A personal campaign with a cost of 14$ per shirt, choosing the most expensive shirt, nets you 3,55$ per shirt sold (Again, with a goal of 50 shirts sold).
Now what do you get for going through Twitch? A fancy channel panel with a timer (Most can make a panel on their own) and a spot in their merch store (Does anyone actually browse this, buying shirts from casters they don't know?). And lastly a Twitch patch on the sleeve. I've heard a lot of "THEY PROMOTE YOU SO IT'S WORTH" arguments but with these numbers you'd earn 177$ on your own campaign if you sell 50 shirts. You'd have to sell twice that in order to earn 178$ going through Twitch - So unless their promotion and brand doubles your sales out of the blue it's not worth it. I wanted to point this out because it seems like no one noticed how they're paying Twitch mostly just for the sake of paying Twitch. (Or maybe people really just want a Twitch patch on their shirts - Personally I don't care for ads on my clothing, but I know most people see it as a plus) I recommend doing your own campaign and let the savings go to your audience if you don't care for the money.
