The VA Maryland Health Care System, which includes the Baltimore and Perry Point VA Medical Centers, the Loch Raven VA Community Living & Rehabilitation Center and six community based outpatient clinics, utilizes donations to offer many supplemental services, activities and items to support the needs of our Veteran patients. Donations from caring community members, Veterans service organizations, and local businesses are used to help make the stay of our Veteran patients more enjoyable. The mission of the donor program is to honor America’s Veterans as heroes by providing the highest quality health care with the support of gifts and donations from local community members and charitable organizations. As a Federal agency, the Department of Veterans Affairs receives a congressionally appropriated budget every fiscal year to cover the cost of VA health care services. While our congressionally appropriated budget pays for the day-to-day operations of VA health care and the medical needs of our Veteran patients, we rely on charitable donations to pay for the supplemental expenses that are outside the scope of the VA budget or to maximize our resources to best serve the needs of Veteran patients.

Monetary donations are used to support a variety of patient activities and services throughout the VA Maryland Health Care System.
