I'm A Winner Lyrics I'm a diamond in the rough Everybody knows the score And them haters claymore "But the people want more!" And I'mma give it to 'em I was born a winner All I had to do was show 'em My hoodie canary yellow But I'm bright on my own Most haters out there take naps like combs I never sleep, I'm always on my grind I never eat, unless a rapper spit a rhyme Sick girls jockin', haters keep hatin' They pissed off cause I'm more Eli than Peyton Cause I'm the underdog, which means I'm under, dog I'm not a nigga who moves snow like Santa Claus I'm just a nigga with watermelons instead of balls Cause I work from the bottom to the top I used to be lost like Locke Haters got a shook core like Pac, get it? Said the proof is in the pudding The secret's in the sauce I ain't gotta tell nobody why they call me the boss x2 I'm a winner (I'm a winner) (x8) He work hard for the money, but it ain't about cash (Oh oh, Oh oh)
Life's a schoolyard, I ain't gettin' picked last (Oh oh) Better think fast, there's a pop quiz (Oh oh, Oh oh) On which nigga get popped before his 25th (Oohh) Y'all niggas need to learn to live, life is awesome Open up your own store, get a house in Boston I know it's not easy, it takes some drive Some niggas get desperate like the Housewives And they only see fortune, they don't see wealthy You can lose a fortune, wealthy is healthy You can't lose wealth, it's everywhere The world's made of Brewster's But if you Richard Pryor, they having the cash you get And hard work and hoping and your faith is set I know the world's tough I was just like you I used to eat Lay's, now my chips are blue Two step (Two step) (x4) Now bounce it out (Bounce it out) (x4) Walk it out (Walk it out) (x4) About “I'm A Winner” A song about how much Gambino is #Winning. He likens himself to John Locke, Richard Prior, Eli Manning, Santa Claus, and Tupac.
So Sick Wit It Tru Dudes (Ripped version) With Christmas just a few days away we wanted to celebrate fashion with a traditional holiday theme, but there aren’t any shows featuring characters in swaddling clothes. artful dodger hoodiesAnd our next choice, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, only wears robes that frankly don’t work except for casual Fridays. hooded dashiki for saleBut, in the (holy) spirit of “the meek shall inherit the earth,” let’s deconstruct a geek — Leonard from The Big Bang Theory, airing Mondays on CBS.keyblade hoodie The nerd is one of life’s most misunderstood creatures. rome sds hoodies
And his clothing choices are even more mind-boggling.  While Leonard can figure out problems related to molecular physics, he can’t work his way through plaids versus stripes. nominate hoodie awardsYet oddly, in a purely organic way, his look works for him. hoodie gaastra damesIt’s timeless, in that “the cute sales girl at Urban Outfitters told me all this stuff looked good on me” sort of way.  And if you are considering continuing your postgraduate work, the least you can do is emulate someone who at least has caught the attention of the hottie blonde across the hall. The nice thing about Leonard’s look is how simple it is to figure out. In fact, he almost never strays from his signature look. It’s said that Einstein had seven of the exact same outfit so he never had to waste time thinking about what to wear each day of the week.
Yep, that’s genius — in an anti-Anna Wintour sort of way. A graphic T-shirt from Urban Outfitters is the perfect piece to build the look upon. Anything from its Lazy Smurf T-shirt to its Richard Pryor T-shirt works perfectly, but considering the time of year, we’re choosing the “Santa Claus Hates You” shirt, which features Jolly Old St. Nick giving everyone the bird. It’s surprisingly nonjudgmental when it comes to the naughty or nice debate. Next, a zippered hoodie without a lot of bulk is a necessity. While Urban Outfitters has several decent choices, such as the Penguin Secret Sam hoodie or the Industry reversible striped hoodie, we like the simplicity of American Eagle’s Signature full-zips. The colors are easy to work with — brown, black and gray — and they’re priced right. Leonard prefers to wear earth tones, so go brown. You then need to add lightweight outerwear  in the form of a blazer or plain military-type jacket. Urban Outfitters carries a perfect military moleskin jacket from Spiewak in gray that features a stand-up collar and epaulets.
Those details, including buttoned plackets, add just enough oomph to keep things interesting. Unfortunately, things get boring from the waist down — isn’t that always the way for geeks? — and Leonard hits the snooze bar with nondescript jeans and Converse All-Stars. Modernized horn-rimmed glasses drive the nerd quotient way up and are a must-have for the bookish set. Get Screener's essential guide to the best TV—and TV writing—delivered to your inbox every week.Without Richard Pryor, there would be no Dave Chappelle.  And without Dave Chappelle, there probably would have been months void of laughter throughout my college years.  Most people like to write off the 80s as a penalty in men’s fashion.  Broad shoulder, double-breasted suits, winbreakers.  A lot of people don’t like to look back.  I consider just a different kind of monster folks were dealing with at the time.  Richard Pryor proves that there was a lot of classic style in the 80’s. Check out La Merde’s latest Spring release.  I like these jackets that look like they can be worn anywhere short of a formal occasion. You can shop for their pieces with the La Merde catalog laid out in a generic blog template, following the tradition of Ksubi and Maison Martin Margiela.  If you’re in the San Francisco area, cop one at your local Villains shop. If you want more of a description of what La Merde is all about, check the e-mail drop… La Merde, a Portland, OR based apparel company, announces the debut of its Spring 2009 line. Designed with the hip, young professional in mind, this season’s highlights include a hooded, military-style blazer, black twill motorcycle jacket, and seersucker hoodie with bowtie drawstring. All pieces feature a tailored, slim cut, are fully lined and highly detailed with playful touches, including custom interior flask pockets. This Spring Collection is the sophomore release from designers Josh Hindson and Erik Prowell.
The line may seem incongruous to anyone familiar with the duo’s previous collaboration; After 8 years in the apparel industry, they saw a need for clean, masculine outerwear that incorporated a street sensibility. LaMerde couples classic suiting materials and traditional silhouettes with contemporary influences, details and styling to create a range of remarkably versatile jackets. “We didn’t see much in the world of men’s wear that we were very excited about. We decided it was time to start designing for ourselves.” says Prowell. “I think the result speaks for itself.” Collections, Etcetera / by For the Record is The Steel Crew’s new series of dialogue with leaders and up-and-comers in the fashion, arts, and entertainment industries. We are the inquiring minds, and we want to know more…don’t you? This edition of For the Record is with Men’s Fashion Director for Saks Fifth Avenue, Eric Jennings. Mr. Jennings was kind enough to give us an interview at the Saks Men’s Store in downtown San Francisco, where he was hosting a spring collection preview.
The full interview after the jump. Bay Area, For the Record, Gentlemen / by I woke up this morning to this text from my brother: “You made front page gold on the TH blog.”None of you know how awesome this is for me. I’m a longtime follower/reader/fan of TH and I’m stoked to see myself on their homepage, even if it’s only for probably all of an entire day. But before I start basking in my .15 nanoseconds of e-fame and hire a Venezuelan security guard/dry cleaner to carry my water bottle for me, I have to first thank Ben (for seriously being a homie, and absolutely cool, even though I’ve only talked to him twice) and Bobby and Tony and everyone in The Hundreds‘ crew who put together Friday’s excellent hipsterfest beer-a-thon party for THSF’s first year anniversary.s blog for more pics, and stay tuned for our coverage tomorrow. Incidentally, that girl in the Twisted Sister shirt is officially MY NEW GIRLFRIEND. If I can find her on Craigslist’s Missed Connections.
