I mean, yes, he’s frustrating and cagey and such a little shit, but you can still see why Derek is drawn to him. And alpha!lydia is so so perfect. It’s obvious that the author took time to actually research the issues within the fic. (I should have realized this sooner, considering my obsession with the sport)
This fic is fantastic. All of the characters are just so rich and perfect, I even recced it to a friend who doesn’t give a shit about either fandom. If you’re intimidated by the details of soccer, the author manages to work in explanations without too much awkwardness. There is nothing about offsides, however, because no one understands offsides.Note 1: There is a lot of talk about homophobia in this fic, because it’s a very present issue in the sport these days.
