Fans and would-be buyers of Dallas Cowboys merchandise took to social media, and spoke with The Dallas Morning News, to vent about lost orders, canceled orders and goods that didn't make it onto Santa's sleigh in time for the gift-athon holiday.The complaints centered on problems with items ordered through the official, online Dallas Cowboys Pro Shop, which is run by the Cowboys organization. She said she ordered her husband a hat and Cowboys shirt that never arrived. "The game we watched the other day I couldn't even enjoy and I spent most of the game annoyed seeing all the Cowboys gear the team and fans were wearing because my husband didn't get his gift for his birthday.

We are still fans but it is disappointing knowing their official  Pro shop is a terribly run business [that] didn't care about disappointing their fans." Cowboys spokesman Joe Trahan said this has been the "biggest and busiest year in team history," for merchandise sales. He declined to give a dollar total or say how much the increase was from last year or from the previous record. Doug Kopin, 53 of suburban Tampa, said he paid an extra $25 for rush shipping for an order that didn't arrive until Tuesday. With Christmas gone, he canceled the order and sent it back, leading to a billing dispute."I know it's Christmas. I know you're busy," he said. Trahan said the organization did just that."In anticipation of the holiday season--and the team's advancement into the post season-- hundreds of additional workers were hired. A weekend holiday can sometimes contribute to a slowdown in delivery, but we have had very few reported cases of customers not receiving their orders on time." 

Asked about the comments on social media, Trahan initially referred back to the official statement. Later he sent an updated statement: "The Cowboys acknowledged that they have experienced some technical problems with customer responses and recommended fans who are still in need of assistance would be best served by sending their questions and concerns related to merchandise orders to this email address: cservice@dallascowboys.net." He said Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott jerseys, as well as items like a Cowboys hoody and a knit hat that were featured in Black Friday and Cyber Monday special promotions, were among the best sellers. "And within the last week or two our Division Champ assortment has been [among] our best selling items," he said. Ohio resident Chrissy Kaminski said she placed an order for a custom-made "Zeke" Elliott shirt on Dec. 8 for her husband and to show support for the former Ohio State running back. It was guaranteed for delivery by Christmas. 

Her story matched those of other disappointed consumers: Christmas is getting closer, no shirt. Calls to the Pro Shop do not yield human contact. Wait times exceed 10 minutes. Kaminski said she never got the shirt. This week she found out why. "They canceled my order without telling me." She said she was notified via Facebook that "they oversold the jersey and they're not getting enough in until late January so they just canceled people's orders." To make amends, they offered a 15 percent discount on a future order. "You have to call customer service to use it and customer service never answers," she said. Kaminski said she was not billed because the item never shipped. But Rueb said she was billed and wants her money back. The official online pro shop accounts for only a portion of total Cowboys merchandise sales. The team has 15 Dallas Cowboys Pro Shops in the Dallas-Fort Worth market including four at D/FW International Airport. There are 27 Dallas Cowboys Pro Shops total.
