Police hunt for armed man in Northland The Armed Offenders Squad has been deployed to Kaiwaka, north of Auckland, searching for a male who shot at police and stole a car. He is described as being in his late 30s, up to 6ft tall with brown curly hair. He was wearing a blue t-shirt with white writing and a brown zip up hoodie. Earlier this morning it was reported that residents of Maungatauroto were on lockdown and surrounding areas were cordoned off. At around 12.43am Police attempted to stop a vehicle at Bank Street, Whangarei. The driver then fled from Police initiating a short pursuit before crashing on Kamo Road, Kamo. The male driver left the vehicle and fired a shot at two unarmed police officers. Both officers found cover and the offender stole an unmarked patrol vehicle. Soon after the man stopped two occupants of a vehicle near Raumanga Valley Road in Whangarei. He told them to get out and then stole their vehicle and headed South on State Highway 1.

He was then seen travelling along State Highway 12 by Police where they signalled for the vehicle to stop. It fled and was last seen near Maungaturoto. Police located the vehicle on Bikerstaffe Road in Maungaturoto shortly after. Police are asking for members of the public to call 111 immediately if they see any suspicious behaviour or anyone fitting the description. Considering we have had no arrests in years and only one complaint in 2014, our pub crawl is nothing compared to something like the Wellington Sevens."The Waitangi Day Pub Crawl draws thousands of Kiwis to pubs along the London Underground's Circle Line.

The event has now been going for more than 30 years. There were allegations of bad behaviour in 2012 including public vomiting and urinating; however, these were disputed by those who attended and London police.Among the other rules for this year's event are these: "Don't be dicks. Don't carry glass about and listen to anything the cops say on the day.""Drinking on the street and underground will be challenged by police, please try and keep it to the pubs."The pub crawl will start at 11pm tomorrow (NZ time) and finish with a haka at 5am Saturday at the Old Palace Yard.Story highlightsJonah Lomu was widely regarded as one of rugby union's finest players.Tributes pour in for All Blacks greatWould of done anything to have played a test with him. /tb8ZLROKfu— Dan Carter (@DanCarter) November 18, 2015 Shocked, thoughts are with the Lomu family right now ❤️❤️— Sonny Bill Williams (@SonnyBWilliams) November 18, 2015 Our thoughts are with the @JONAHTALILOMU family tonight.
