While living in Korea (where she taught English for three years), she fell in love with Korean and Korean culture. Her love affair with Korea continued after returning to Toronto (where she now calls home), as she continued to write articles and reviews about Korean music (especially Korean indie and hip hop – along with her well-known affection for Big Bang), film, culture, events and food. She has covered Korean music at major festivals like SXSW and CMW and spoke at KCON in L.A. And if that’s not enough, Cindy also has a Korean cooking show on YouTube (Canadian Doenjang) and is a board member for the Toronto Korean Film Festival. Shawn Despres is a freelance music journalist that has been writing about Korean indie music since 2008 for the likes of Korea Gig Guide, The Japan Times, The Jeju Weekly, Aurotone, and Groove Korea. He also works with the Seoul-based record label Love Rock Company to assist Korean indie acts with overseas tour booking and English publicity. Chris Park started writing about Korean and Japanese music in 2008. Starting in the Spring of 2014, he took the reins of the site to promote Korean independent music across all genres.
