NO TOURS FOR THE DAY!Villalobos Rescue Center hat 4 neue Fotos hinzugefügt.HOUND IS THE NEW PIT BULL..... We have many asking.....why all the Hounds all of a sudden? Why has VRC found themselves "Hounded by Hounds?" Well on the chance that this is about to sound "rude"......we didn't ask for them! Here is what happened. About 3 years ago, we merged with the Assumption Parish Animal Shelter out in a rural/country/swamp environment, about 1 1/2 hours away from New Orleans. We offered to help with the unwanted dogs situation in this area and "set u...p shop". Well the equation became quickly clear: The South + Woods + Swamp = Lots of Hounds. In learning more about the life of a "hunting dog", what also became clear is that not all hunters treat their dogs all too well.

Now before you get your knickers in a bunch, I said....not all hunters. As the ex of a duck hunter (I didn't participate in it nor would I ever), he treated his hunting dog like a king. The dog LOVED it, but also slept in bed with him at night and went to work with him every day. But.....that is not always the case. I personally have seen it with my own eyes with Hounds contained in wooden "boxes" with only narrow slits/slats for openings, situated out in the woods sitting in the overbearing heat and humidity. I don't care who or what you do.....this is inhumane by any and all definition of what constitutes proper care of a living being..... and this is what we deal with now. These Hounds come to us "broken" and almost lifeless at times. Unlike the Pit Bull who is resilient and bounces right back (damn I just love that about them), these Hounds are more sensitive and sometimes come to us "feral like", tail between their legs, seemingly giving up on life. So it is not that we've pushed aside our Pit Bull rescue efforts but simply taken on another type of dog that I never knew needed the help just as much.

With the strength and tenacity of the Pit Bull and the desire to show the world how emotionally strong and loyal they are, they compliment the humor and antics of the Hounds. And together they truly do prove that the love for dogs has no boundaries. Just my thought for the day. I have not seen her but the gentleman who is feeding her and checking in said she looked very weak, would not even raise her head up when he went into the room. The so called "owner" supposedly threw them all out last night when he moved. I did message the gentleman helping and asked him to pleeeeeeze be sure I could get to all puppies and mommies today as we WILL BE moving them out of there asap TODAY!! -I have rescue for the 6 Havana puppies at Brenda Bradley's. - I THINK I have rescue for the 8 in my kitchen...." No way I can take in 2 mommy dogs and 16 more puppies.....I have NOWHERE to put them. There is a bad storm coming in tonight...and I know I am asking for a miracle, but does anyone have room for these poor dogs?? they do not deserve this.....
