Competing on the 6,002-yard, par-72 course at Jacksonville Golf & Country Club, the Cougars posted the lowest team score of the day by 10 strokes at 288 and finished the two-day, 54-hole event with a score of 878. “We got on them a little bit last night. Everybody was upset with how we executed Monday, but our team responded, and that was evident in the way that we started,” Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell said.

"We weren’t satisfied with Monday when we let some shots slip away. We slipped a little in the middle of the back nine but finished strong.” Individually, sophomore Megan Thothong defended her individual title and shared medalist honors with current teammate junior Emily Gilbreth at 217. It was Thothong’s second championship at the UNF Collegiate and the first of Gilbreth’s collegiate career. After starting the Final Round with four straight pars, Thothong took off with three consecutive birdies on Nos. 5-7. She closed out her front nine with two more pars and added her fourth and final birdie of the day on the par-4, 10th hole. “Once again, Megan was just solid, today and for the week,” Chadwell said. Gilbreth was impressive over her final 18 holes. The Bellaire High product drained a birdie on the first hole and sank back-to-back birdies on Nos. 5-6 to move to 3-under through her first six holes. Battling through her lone bogey of the day on No. 7, Gilbreth made 11 consecutive pars to cap her round.

“Emily had a big round today to give her a chance to win the tournament,” Chadwell said “She was a little banged up coming into the week. For her to battle through it and play well showed a lot. That was fun to watch." Sophomore Yuka Kajiki fired a 74 for the third straight round and tied for 12th at 22, while senior and two-time All-American Athletic Conference honoree Raegan Bremer tied for 19th at 226. Making her collegiate debut, junior Leonie Harm finished 94th at 148, while sophomore Maddy Rayner tied for 74th at 240 while competing as an individual. Under Chadwell and Assistant Coach Lucy Nunn’s leadership, the Cougars captured their third team title, all in the state of Florida. While the Sunshine State appears to be a second home for Houston, Chadwell said Tuesday’s performance showed signs of a promising future. “Visually, the course at Jacksonville Golf & Country Club is similar to Golf Club of Houston,” Chadwell said. “However, there is something to be said for expecting to be in that final group and expecting to win.

We beat a very good Texas team, and we had to play good to do that. This is just a sign of how the program is growing.” A year ago, the Cougars captured the first team championship in program history at this event.

My organizing cubes finally came in and now everything is neatly tucked away where it belongs! From start to finish it only took me 40min of working and I ate dinner during my 20min of breaks. mcsmashdesigns:Productivity Challenge • Day 23/100Now I’ve moved on to the little victories. I folded and put away three loads of laundry and cleaned my kitchen (including smelly four day old coffee in my coffee pot 😖). I woke up and wanted to be productive instead of having to convince myself it needed to be done. I’m looking forward to work, knowing that my to-do list for the night is full of fun things like that mani/pedi, writing, reading, or cross-stitching or coloring… I don’t have to worry about unpacking or cleaning or anything remotely adult-like except taking out the trash as soon as I get home (valet trash is AMAZING). Maybe I’ll watch a movie too while I eat leftover takeout from the other night. I used to love movie nights. I’ll snag some popcorn from my parents’ house when I pick up Declan. I’m not used to feeling in control or even feeling things like excitement. Depression, for me, was like someone took a pumpkin scoop and carved out any and every emotion and just left me with an empty shell and said “go ahead and try to live your life.” W

ell guess what, Mr. Depression, this is me living my life. Depression, we’re done.
