Innovation, Quality, Features, Performance. I traded in my UBG-16 for the EDM 700 because the UBG-16 does not offer data recording functionality for my fuel flow information (maybe because the UBG-16 only displays GPH, I find this misleading on EI's part). I also have had recurring problems with jumpy EGT readings on my UBG-16. That's when i decided to do it right and go with JPI. Click here to Read the Entire Article ...Your Age: 16 Your Location (where do you ride mostly): Chill Factore, UK Weapon(s) of choice: Snowboard What’s an average day for you like? I get up at 6. Go for a run then shower and get ready for school.
After school I have various activities on some days a go to cadets and on others I have choir. But on Thursdays and Fridays I snowboard. What is the most difficult part of your activity/sports for a beginner? The hardest part when learning to ride getting the courage to build up speed. Especially when you're riding your first kicker. What is the best and worst thing about being female in your sport? The best part is that people always give you a really impressed look when they're told you snowboard and because of the lack of females in the sport the smaller comps are a lot easier. Especially if it's your first one. The worst part is that some of the boys underestimate what you can do so it can be harder to make friends. What would you like to see change in your sport to make it better for you and other female athletes? For boys there's so many clubs they can join specifically for them. But as a girl they're hard to come by. Also the lack of variety when it comes to gear. In my local snowboard shops there are loads of boys boards but very few for girls.
Besides your ability and style factor as an athlete, how would you describe your personal style? I'm pretty laid back. I don't really see the need to spend hours in front of a mirror. So I just brush my hair and put on a hat. The just black jeans a top and a pair of vans What are your favorite brands/designers for your sports apparel and for stepping out? Snowboard wise I've always stuck with Capita and Salomon. But a lot of my gear is Volcom or Surfanic and I always buy 32 boots when possible Let’s hear your thoughts on how important looking good is to feeling good. “Being” your personal best? I try my best to coordinate my outfits but it doesn't always work out. I'd much rather wear clothes that I can just jump onto a skateboard and not have to worry about my skirt blowing up. So I go for what feels best over what looks good. How dangerous do you really think it is compared to what people do in their regular activities? Well most sports have their dangers but I wouldn't say it's that dangerous compared to some of the other so long as you wear a helmet, backbrace and wrist guards you're pretty safe.
I bet in your experience you have seen some crazy crashes. We were filming a chain over a kicker and the first person fell but it took about 5 people over the kicker before we realised the first person had crashed. What usually gets people hooked on your activity/sport? The rush that comes with learning a new trick. When I first started it was the feeling of accomplishment when I first linked a turn without falling but now it's the rush that comes with flying over a kicker and finally getting a trick you've been learning all week. What is your favorite trick? I love to ride rails. My most recent warm up trick is a simple sode on rail with back side board slide to switch. What gets you pumped up for the day? I like to listen to some upbeat music to get me ready for the day ahead. What are three things you could not live without? My phone, my friends and my snowboard. Who have been your biggest supporters in getting you to where you are now? I'd say my mum is one of my biggest supporters she buys all my gear and pays for all my lessons.
But I wouldn't be anywhere near as good as I am today with out all the instructors I've had in the past or without my friends always pushing me to do s bit more. What do you do in your spare time when you’re not riding/shooting/competing? I like to play guitar, design video games and do something active How about in the off season to stay in shape? I'm pretty lucky because I live an hour from Chill Factore so I can ride all year round. What is your biggest goal to accomplish this/next season? I really want to start competing again. I'm really hoping that I'll get gold in the indoor Boardercross competitions. What competitions and other awards have you won? Include your non sports accomplishments also. British Indoor freestyle champs (3rd), British indoor boarder cross (one in 2nd and another in 3rd), Runner up for video game design comp and a few art competitions. What’s your favorite “way” to ride? I love to ride the park but nothing beats riding some fresh powder. Bluebird and deep powder.
Where would be your biggest dream place to ride and why? I'd love to go to Canada to ride. I love the idea of being able to ride to your local shop What song(s) do you listen to while riding that puts you in the zone? I always start a session by listening figure it out by Royal Blood. What turned you on to your sport? I had a taster lesson booked for skiing and snowboarding and I was terrible at skiing but I took to snowboarding. Any new tricks you’re working on? I really want to land a front flip. I can land them on a air bag but I can never get the air off a normal kicker. What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever done in your sport? The first time I rode on a real mountain I went off piste. I had no idea you had to lean on your back foot and got stuck in waist deep snow and stuck in 3 different trees. What other extreme/action sports are you into? I really like to rock climb and box. If extreme/action sports didn’t exist, what would you be doing with all the free time you’d have?
