Born in Hunnewell, Mo., Spencer enrolled at C-SC in 1928. In an interview with Spencer in 2009, he said, “It was the beginning of hard times. I had enough money to pay my tuition and a job waiting tables and washing dishes at Watsons Cafe for room and board. Fat Watson was also a student at C-SC and with... the help of his parents we were able to run the cafe. At the end of my first year my parents moved to Canton and I was able to stay at home and go to school. At the beginning of the school year if you did not have the money to pay all your tuition you had to go in and see Dr.Wood the President for permission to enroll. Houseman '75 of Jerseyville was awarded Fellowship in the American College of Dentists on October 20th, 2016 during its Annual Meeting and Convocation in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Houseman is active in the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Illinois State Dental Society, and the Academy of Dentistry International (an International Honor Society for Dentists), and serves on the Peer Review Committee of the Madison District D...ental Society. He is also a member of the Jerseyville Rotary Club, has served in numerous local philanthropical organizations and has provided care to numerous individuals through the Donated Dental Services of Illinois. Dr. Houseman presently has a general dental practice in Jerseyville that was started by his late father Dr. J.H. Houseman in 1948. The American College of Dentists is the oldest national honorary organization for dentists.
