But another release has keyboardist Rory Carey excited: Rebelution IPA. The beer, brewed with Tampa's Rock Brothers Brewing and Cigar City Brewing, is a West Coast IPA created with input from Carey, a craft beer fiend and former home brewer. It will debut during a festival this weekend at St. Petersburg's Vinoy Park and be available on local taps shortly thereafter. "It's really good," he said in a recent phone interview. "It's going to clock in around 7.5 percent, so that's a little higher than the average session beer. But it'll still be fine. Drink some water in between, you'll be good." It made sense for the California band (which is wildly popular in these parts) to create a craft beer (also wildly popular in these parts). Carey, drummer Wesley Finley and other band and crew members are big beer geeks, trading bottles on the road, requesting cool local brews backstage and visiting as many breweries as possible. (Carey is a fan of St. Pete's Cycle Brewing, so keep an eye out for him there before the show.)

Rock Brothers has created beers for other bands, too — including 311, who will bring Rebelution on next March's 311 Cruise out of Tampa. If all goes as planned, you'll be able to sip both Rebelution IPA and 311 Amber Ale on the boat. "That'd just be the coolest thing ever," Carey said. In the meantime, doors open at 4 p.m. Saturday for the festival, which also features the Green, Stick Figure, J Boog and Through the Roots. $30 and up via Ticketmaster. SUMMERTIME SADNESS: Taste of Chaos Tour Grab some eyeliner, skinny jeans and a black hoodie, and sweep your bangs across your head with a great, painful sigh because we've got ourselves a full-on emo revival. As younger bands like White Lung, Modern Baseball and Pity Sex win critical raves across America, veterans Dashboard Confessional, bottom, and Taking Back Sunday, top, are gearing up for the reborn Taste of Chaos Tour, which hits Tampa's MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre on Saturday.

Ink-sleeved Sunshine Stater Chris Carrabba and Dashboard mewled their way into our hearts and diaries with Screaming Infidelities, Vindicated and Hands Down; while Long Islanders Taking Back Sunday might rip open a 30-something mosh pit with Cute Without the E (Cut From the Team). Joining them are Saosin (reunited with singer Anthony Green) and the Early November, making this bill feel like a Hot Topic T-shirt wall come to life at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre, 4802 U.S. 301 N, Tampa. BEAR TRUTH: Nahko and Medicine For the People Nahko Bear occupies a rare place in the world of music. Part Native American, part Filipino, part Puerto Rican, the Oregon-born singer-songwriter can claim to be a true global citizen and has always tried to make band Nahko and Medicine for the People an instrument for progressive change. His new album Hoka is at turns universal ("Always give what you can, even if your allies draw lines in the sand," he sings on Love Letters to God) and intensely personal (San Quentin is the story of a trip to prison to visit the man who murdered his father).

It's a little more political than your typical concert for Reggae Rise Up, the summer Sunday series at Jannus Live. But the music — a worldly melange of folk, global rock and jam-pop, like Rusted Root or Dave Matthews Band — will still get people moving. Satsang opens at 7 p.m. Sunday at Jannus Live, 200 First Ave. N, St. Petersburg. HUMAN ODDITY: David Brighton While we all wait patiently for Lady Gaga to relent and embark on a full-scale David Bowie tribute tour, here's the next best thing: David Brighton. He's been called the world's best impersonator of a comet-like creative spirit, pulling audiences on an odyssey from Bowie's Ziggy Stardust days to his reign as the Thin White Duke and beyond. It's a daunting task, which may be why Bowie impersonators are much less common than those of, say, Led Zeppelin or the Rolling Stones. Bowie tributes have been flying fast and furious over the last five months; it's often hard to keep track of who's memorializing him and when. But for anyone in search of an electric Bowie experience, this is one not to miss.
