The sisters grew up listening to influential electronic artists such as Fatboy Slim and Basement Jaxx and dreamed of one day producing music like their heroes. Since Sony/ATV Music Publishing recognized their talent and signed them at the age of 18, the pair have enjoyed an astonishing rise to fame in the world of pop music and in the club scene. As a song writing team NERVO have worked with a number of artists including Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Kesha, The Pussycat Dolls, Cheryl Cole and even one of the biggest names in pop, Kylie Minogue.
Their success really began to skyrocket when they co-wrote the 2009 chart-topping hit ‘When Love Takes Over’ with David Guetta and Kelly Rowland, which won Guetta a Grammy and was pronounced Billboard’s number one dance/pop collaboration ever in 2013. This huge achievement led to them getting an artists’ contract with Virgin/EMI Music in 2010 and subsequently releasing a number of their own singles, such as 2011's ‘We’re All No One’ (feat. Afrojack and Steve Aoki) which made the top spot on the UK club charts and 2012’s ‘You’re Gonna Love Again’. NERVO continue to lend their unique style and personal touch to music and fashion and are highly sought-after names in entertainment. In an industry as notoriously male-dominated as electronic music, their ascent to stardom is nothing short of inspiring, and has rightly earned them millions of fans worldwide.Thus I decided to spontaneously buy Gold Meet & Greet tickets to their show with the Belgian Duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike.
Prior to their show, I obviously did my research and found out that they’re Australians from Melbourne and the first track I listened to was their collaboration track "The Way We See The World" with Afrojack, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike – which was also the Anthem for Tomorrowland 2011. I had the great opportunity to meet Mim and Liv when they performed in Cape Town at the Sideshow, which has also hosted other great DJs like R3hab. They’re so down to earth and even complimented me for my sense of style, which I’m still giddy about to this day. What I really love about them as artists is that they use their own vocals for their tracks most of the time and that truly makes their sets unique and lively. They do a lot of mixes of the latest songs as well since they’ve mostly released a large amount of singles and haven’t made an album yet. I would not mind seeing these girls again. Australian sister duo Nervo have made quite the impression on the EDM/electro circuit with a combination of striking appearance and even more striking music.
The girls really know how to bring a party and from the first appearance onstage they take it in turns to control the decks and hype the swirling, cheering crowds below. From the offset they have had the opportunity to collaborate with dance legends including Steve Aoki and Afrojack so they often drop these tracks along with music by the artists themselves and the crowd goes collectively insane. The party never loses pace and a mid-set drop of 'You're Gonna Love Again' pushes energy levels to fever pitch. The girls capitalise on this as they mash up some of their favourite dance tracks of the moment whilst Olivia stands proudly at the front of stage and jumps along with the crowd. It is easy to see that if they put as much effort into their career as they do their live performance, they are assured to be huge.
