Please prepare your homes to be "storm ready". Secure small objects outside the may blow around in high winds. If you have medical concerns or small children, consider leaving kismet BEFORE the full impact of the storm hits Kismet. High sustained winds and possible flooding are expected. Ferry service "may" be altered or suspended. In the event of suspended ferry service, the recommendation would be to leave Kismet in a timely manor. Some Firefighters simulated a boat fire, deploying a hand line working to put out the fire. Thanks to all who came out for the drill. We would like to thank all the volunteers who came out and gave their time and worked really hard. It was nice to have some past Auxiliary peeps working hand and hand with department members. There was a great sense of community spirit and the firehouse was buzzing with excitement. The money raised at functions like this, goes towards buying much needed Fire fighting equipment. A fully equipped... firefighter with bunker gear and equipment costs over $8,500. As a department, we are very concerned about our community and the needs of it.

We endeavor to purchase as much equipment as we can by fundraising, therefore not solely relying on taxpayer dollars. At Saturday's Pancake Breakfast we served Pancakes, sausage, bacon, fresh strawberries and blueberries, hot coffee,tea, OJ and ice coffee all for a $12.00 wristband which allowed you to go up as many times you wanted. We had a 50/50 raffle with the lucky winner taking home $275. Our department treasurer enforced a strict NO give back rule. We are extremely happy to report that after expenses we raised $1,800. We appreciate all who came out to support the KFD.
