Hootie and the Blowfish Reunite to Perform "Hold My Hand" on David Letterman: Watch! It's been 20 years since Hootie & the Blowfish made it big, but they're still incredible live, which was evident when they appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman on Thursday, April 30. Throwing Us back to the '90s, the band performed their 1994 hit "Hold My Hand." "The song that started it all," Letterman said, introducing the rock band, which singer Darius Rucker, Mark Bryan, Dean Felber, and Jim Sonefeld formed at the University of South Carolina in 1986. Some of their other classics include "Only Wanna Be With You," "Time," "Let Her Cry," and "Hey, Hey, What Can I Do."

After selling more than 21 million albums in the U.S., they went on hiatus in 2008 so Rucker could kickstart a solo country career. Hootie & the Blowfish still remember their roots, though, and reunite often for a good cause. This summer, the longtime friends will come together once more in Charleston, South Carolina, from Aug. 7 to 8 for their annual Homegrown Concert. Created in 2000, the concert supports public education and philanthropy issues, and raises money for hundreds of organizations worldwide. Watch the video of their reunion above! Now, with the weather heating up and the 2015 summertime tour season already underway, the song is back — this time with a few different characters involved. Launched on May 14th, the four-month trek is one of country music's hottest tickets, stocked with chart-toppers, up-and-comers and, as of this week, the Number One country band on country radio. That final accolade goes to roots-rock rookies A Thousand Horses, whose "Smoke" recently climbed to the top of the Country Airplay chart. New bands rarely hit Number One out of the gate, and the Southern Style crew has begun celebrating as a result, with virtually everyone hitting the stage toward the end of Rucker's nightly headlining set to perform "Hold My Hand."

In the video above, the tour makes a stop in Camden, New Jersey, to help celebrate the 31st anniversary of Philadelphia's XTU radio station.

The Southern Style Tour runs through August, with all three openers playing the majority of Rucker's dates.

Cracked Rear View, the quartet's first album, was released in the fall of 1994 and became enormously successful, due in part to the album's first single, "Hold My Hand."

The song had worked its way into the Top Ten by the beginning of 1995, propelling the album to number one and paving the way for three additional Top 20 singles: "Let Her Cry," "Only Wanna Be With You," and "Time." Cracked Rear View became the most popular album of 1995. By the time Hootie & the Blowfish returned to the scene with a second album, Fairweather Johnson, in early 1996, the debut had sold 13 million copies in America alone. Fairweather Johnson didn't replicate that success. It entered the charts at number one and sold two million copies within its first four months of release, but it didn't produce any singles on the level of "Hold My Hand" or "Let Her Cry." Musical Chairs followed in 1998 and experienced even less success, and the bandmates decided to take a short break after its release. Scattered, Smothered, and Covered was issued two years later, featuring previously unreleased material and several cover songs. The band returned with new studio material on a 2003 self-titled effort for Atlantic, and followed in 2004 with an engaging Best of set.
