Since Spotify launched in 2008, users have created 1.5 billion playlists. Sorting through the immense amount of musical selections out there can prove difficult. With this list, quit mindlessly browsing and check out these nine essential Spotify playlists for the college student’s everyday life. 1. The Homework Playlist If you’re looking for a relaxing, easy-listening playlist to get your homework done, look no further than this one, titled “Peaceful Indie Ambient.” Created by Spotify, the 5-hour-long playlist provides slow, non-distracting and instrumental-heavy melodies, lending itself perfectly to busting out that 10-page thesis paper due Monday morning. Let artists like Foxes In Fiction, Sufjan Stevens and Phosphorescent accompany you on your journey toward a 4.0 this semester. 2. The Pre-Class Playlist “Ready for the Day” These mostly indie tunes will prepare you for your long trudge to class even more than your venti latte. “Ready for the Day” delivers a variety of upbeat songs you won’t get sick of grooving along to before you head out.
Songs include “Sleepyhead” by Passion Pit, “Toy Guns” by Tokyo Police Club, and “Australia” by the Shins. 3. The Pregame Playlist “Songs That Get Drunk White Girls Excited” This 15-hour-long playlist is one for the masses—and its title is nothing short of exact.. It kicks off with “Hey Ya” by Outkast, and includes songs like “Wanna Be” by The Spice Girls, “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars, and Snoop Dogg’s “Gin and Juice.” og hoodie fabolousMissing from the playlist, though, is a caution label for excited screams and/or uncontrollable white-girl dance moves.hoodies clitheroe 4. The “Night In” Playlisthoodie infestation With a mix of artists from Coldplay to 50 Cent, this 33-hour mix falls somewhere between your party playlist and your wake-up playlist.
“Soft” is ideal for those nights when you just need to bump some tunes while playing cards with friends in an apartment.. Chances are good something on “Soft” will appeal to everyone in the group, because the playlist stretches across virtually all genres. 5. The Workout Playlist If you haven’t found an ideal workout mix yet, “ULTIMATE WORKOUT” may be just what you need. Flitr US created a 6-hour playlist full of hip-hop, pop and rap songs meant to pump you up and keep you going for that last set of reps. The mix includes songs like “1, 2 Step” by (Super Bowl favorite) Missy Elliott and Ciara, “U Don’t Have To Call” by Usher, and others like “F*ckin’ Problem” by A$AP Rocky and “Electric Feel” by MGMT. Strap on your Fit-Bit—the treadmill awaits. 6. The Road Trip Playlist This playlist, made by Spotify, offers an eclectic set of tunes for the music lover in need of a relaxing playlist for an upcoming road trip. Perfect for cruising, the playlist is a mix of loveable classics and modern jams.
From Wavves’ “King of the Beach” to The Beach Boys’ “Surfin’ USA,” the flat-land Interstate drive back to mom and dad’s in the suburbs just got a little more rad. Other artists include Sublime, Weezer, and Citizen Cope. 7. The Pre-Presentation Playlist Sometimes we need to get hyped for things that are naturally unexciting—like school presentations. Jitters can get the best of us, but this is a playlist to make sure that doesn’t happen. Bump to this playlist before you head to campus for your marketing presentation and feel a few steps closer to earning that A. Songs include “Power” by Kanye West, “Take A Walk” by Passion Pit, and “Timestretch” by Bassnectar. 8. The Bed-Time Playlist For the borderline insomniacs, sleeping just got easier with this playlist. Pop in your headphones and search for “Stress Relief,” a 3-hour playlist filled with ambient sounds to help you relax. The songs on this playlist contain no lyrics; they’re mostly piano-based tracks that will soothe your overactive brain when you need it most—right before bed.
Talented pianists like Brian Eno and Chopin will calm your senses, put you to sleep, and leave you feeling well rested for that dreaded 8 a.m. class tomorrow morning. “Songs to Sing in the Shower” Warm up your vocal chords and get your hairbrush-microphone ready. “Songs to Sing in the Shower” provides the perfect shuffle of classic nostalgia-inducing hits you learned all the words to (whether you meant to or not). You’ll come across songs like “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey, “Livin’ La Vida Loca” by Ricky Martin, and Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies,” just to name a few. ~ Lori Gentile Interior Design We’ve purchased pieces from Aaron Chang Ocean Art for clients and for our office. Aaron’s talent is indisputable and the sales staff always make the process quick and easy. I have been an admirer of Aaron Chang’s work since I was introduced to him a couple of years ago by a discerning client who love fine art. They had purchased several pieces from his gallery that will be prominently displayed in a new beach house I designed overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Aaron’s work is breathtaking and his attention to detail flawless. One piece in particular struck me as truly unique; it depicts several dolphins superimposed over a surfboard riding the ocean waves. I saw an opportunity to display this work in the foyer. It’s the first thing you see as you walk in, with the Pacific Ocean beyond. There is so much movement in this work, you might say the house was designed around it. I would highly recommend you visit his galleries to see first hand the work of this talented photographer.
