Nadia Eghbal (via Ford Foundation), Paul Fenwick (Perl Training Australia) OSCON Contribute is a hacking event focused on welcoming new open source contributors to free and open source (FOSS) projects of all sizes. The core of the event highlights eight FOSS projects across two rooms bustling with energy. Contribute is open to all attendees with a badge, including Expo Plus pass holders. Our goals for this event are threefold: Contribute offers a welcoming environment for open source contributor newbies. Participants can be new to programming or longtime open source users new to contributing. You’ll enter a user and leave a contributor. Contribute is a triage hackathon for open source projects with known but unaddressed issues and updates, as well as a way to aid new feature development with the help of an army of developers. Contribute aims to grow and diversify the open source community by introducing more developers to what makes open source so strong: its community.
