Bring Me The HorizonOli Sykes opens up about Download Festival too Bring Me The Horizon have expanded on their ambitions to headline festivals in the future, revealing that they deserve to top the bill and Reading & Leeds. The band pulled a huge crowd when they played just before Metallica at Reading & Leeds in 2015, sparking a discussion about when they might be likely to take the next step and close the main stage themselves. Now, frontman Oli Sykes has told NME that he does see it in the band’s future – but not quite yet. “I mean obviously that would be incredible,” Sykes told NME. “I think we’d need some time away from the world. You can come and see us in November and December – if I was a Reading or Leeds ticket holder I’d want to  not be able to see them live for like a good year and have them come back with a new album. “I think you’ve still got a bit more to prove to get to that point in life, in my opinion. If we did it I’d want to headline it.

I wouldn’t want to co-headline it or share it with someone else. I’d want to say we’re accomplished headliners. The UK rock group recently played shows in Perth, Brisbane and Sydney and had cancelled a gig in Adelaide during the week. Now they’ve also scrapped two two Melbourne dates. A statement from the group confirms that Sykes has been suffering from acute laryngitis and advised by doctors to rest. The support band for the tour, Architects have since stated that they are planning their own Australian tour for early 2017 to make up for the missed dates. Bring Me The Horizon released their latest album ‘That’s The Spirit’ in 2015.

At NME Awards 2016 with Austin, Texas in February, the band’s frontman Oli Sykes jumped on Coldplay‘s table as his band played live. Speaking to NME after the incident, keyboardist Jordan Fish said: “I don’t think [Oli] was aiming for Coldplay. It was just whoever was nearest, it [just] happened to be Coldplay”. Sykes himself explained: “I had no sound in my ears so I thought ‘Well, there might be sound out there.’ There weren’t sound out there so when I came back there was a table, which I got on. There wasn’t any sound on there, but it was a bit more energetic up there.
