He’s named Wrench for some reason, and it looks like he’s a friend of protagonist Marcus Holloway, though where Marcus prefers to dress like a normal person (save for that dumb bandanna), his friend goes for something a bit different.

Yes, he looks goofy as hell with his studded jacket and mask and… everything, but the most interesting part about his look is his LED goggles, which display little symbols on them. They seem to respond to what one can only presume is his emotional state, which is something similar to another video game character: Zer0 from Borderlands 2. The cyborg-ninja-assassin guy in Gearbox’s shooter saga wears a large helmet that obscures his entire face and has holographic emojis that respond largely to their emotions. If you shoot Zer0, you may see an exclamation point or a “WTF?!”; if you heal them, you get a heart. It’s a pretty cute little feature, one that you don’t really see in games before. It’s not clear if the same thing will happen with our hacker here; if he dies in the story, are his eyes going to go x x? (Probably not, because that’d kill the emotional moment.)
