From Summit to City: Double Duty Tech Clothing Does the following describe  you? Despite your best efforts, you spend Monday through Friday in town so you can fund weekend adventures. You summit the local peak before work, jump on the bike at lunch, or hit the crag before the sun goes post-commute. You wear your chamois to the coffee house and you’re often caked in chalk when you meet a friend for burgers. Well, good woman, you’re a weekend warrior: a human that’s constantly torn between a life indoors and the draw of the outside world. Many of our favorite gear brands are recognizing that there are hard-charging women out there who spend a lot time in their adventure clothes, both in town and in the wilds. Thankfully, they’re catering to our demographic with designs that are situated to both worlds. I was tasked with the job of testing clothing that goes from work to summit and from crag to restaurant. The following came out on top as my favorite pieces that blend casual styling with technical abilities.

What: Sweetwater Fleece Hoodie Perfect For: Fall hiking, camping, hanging at the crag, work, and around town The Sweetwater hoodie isn’t your best bet for high-energy adventures, but it’s perfect for more relaxed days spent outside when there’s a chill in the air. What: Tenon Soft Shell Pant Perfect For: Fall/winter hiking and backpacking, around town, and at work if you have a relaxed dress code “Are those skinny soft shell pants?” asked my friend on a recent backpacking trip. The answer was yes. These are soft shell pants that are 1. They’re also, hands down, the brightest (I have them in ochre; choose the indigo for a more subdued look).  The loose–but–not–too–loose fit allows room to adventure hard but look and fit like normal pants so you can hit town, too. The fabric (Cordura Nylon) is quite possibly indestructible Incredibly lightweight: only 8oz Stretchy fabric allows for unobstructed and huge moves, as does gusseted crotch Five pockets and belt loops help you feel like a well put-together person (when not covered in chalk, dirt, and sweat) Flattering fit isn’t too loose What: Open Air Tee Perfect For: Always having on hand after a big adventure, around the campfire, and around town Adventurous women know a run-of-the mill cotton tee just won’t do. The Open Air Tee from Black Diamond has been an awesome addition to my wardrobe. It’s super lightweight, flowy, and cute. Just like the name says, it’s seriously airy. And there’s no problem here with wearing it for a night out with friends;

it feels just as great in the city as it does in the outdoors. It’s not so much about the features on this, just the fact that it’s perfect for any high output activity Slub style fit with scoop neck Athletic gear that’s well-camouflaged as a dressier piece What: Pacaya Insulated Jacket Perfect For: Quite possibly any cool-weather activity (well, within reason) The Cotopaxi Pacaya Insulated Jacket has made itself a staple jacket in my lineup. I wear it to work (and often while at work since I’m always cold) and around town. But more importantly, it’s exactly what I need for shoulder season adventures. It layers nicely, packs down into itself, is super breathable while maintaining warmth, and allows for full mobility.
