Before the Pablo merch, West’s Yeezus tour apparel included a take on Metallica’s pointed signature. But our newfound metal mania feels more pointed than most appropriations. Fashion’s current climate is rife with confusion. Many brands are losing or are without creative directors, and all are grappling with a changing industry that is refocusing on consumer-facing shows and the rippling impacts of social media exposure.
